Chinese Pit House on Salmon River

Between 1870 and 1900 the Chinese were the majority in the Warren Mining District outnumbering others 3 to 1. They had their own stores, saloons, and laundries. They established mining and freight companies.  The Chinese miners lived in pit houses like this one.
